IV International Forum of Oncology and Radiology "TOGETHER - FOR LIFE!" - a unique space for professional communication, which this year brought together more than 1,500 Russian and foreign scientists, leading practitioners and young doctors involved in the process of detecting and treating oncological diseases.

The Forum was organized by the NMIT of Radiology with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Federal Medical and Biological Agency, Russian Association of Therapeutic Radiation Oncologists, “National Medical Research Center of Oncology named after V.I. N.N. Petrov " and a number of other high-profile institutions known for their achievements in medicine, including medical universities and professional associations.

The Forum is taking place at the time of the 150th anniversary of the outstanding surgeon, founder of the Russian oncological school, Pyotr Alexandrovich Herzen. As a brilliant pedagogue, he strove to teach his students clinical thinking, correct assessment of facts and observations, and the ability to form correct conclusions. His ideas, discoveries, developments, approaches are in many ways still relevant.

Reducing mortality from cancer is one of the top-priority government tasks, which involves not only the industry specialists, but the entire medical community, as well as government authorities. The federal project to combat cancer is included in the National Project: "Health". It is worth emphasizing that despite the difficult situation caused by the pandemic, cancer patients receive full medical attention in Russia.

The COVID-19 pandemic affected the work of the entire global medical community. Oncological and radiological services, like all specialized medical areas, strive to adapt to the new format of activity. The virus has already brought in a range of guidelines and recommendations - some formulated by medical groups, others by leading cancer communities. The new data is extremely important, and the different opinions and practices are forcing doctors to reconsider their own approaches. At the same time, optimization of treatment allows minimizing the risks of complications for patients at risk of coronavirus infection.

The task of the forum is to combine modern scientific knowledge, technologies and the best medical experience so that patients find the strength and will to fight diseases thanks to the work of doctors, as well as contribute to the creation of a unified information environment, the approval and implementation of the national oncological standards.

Combining the topics of oncology and radiology within one platform, the interdisciplinary format of the Forum, uniting oncologists, chemotherapy and radiotherapists, anesthesiologists, radiation diagnosticians, therapists, surgeons, endocrinologists, ophthalmologists, dentists, healthcare organizers, physicists and geneticists, is designed to form a synergistic effect increasing the effectiveness of efforts in the fight against cancer.

The Forum program includes the 5th International Readings in memory of Academician A.F. Tsyba "Interventional radiological technologies: a modern view", the plenum of the Board of the Association of Oncologists of Russia, the III Congress of the Association of Health Organizers in Oncology and a number of sessions and schools, which will make it possible to satisfy almost any needs of specialists who look for the exchange of scientific knowledge, new professional competencies, cooperative relationships with colleagues, institutes and public structures representing oncology, radiology, and related fields.

The international event aims to bring together the efforts of healthcare organizers, oncologists, the medical community and representatives of other specialties involved in cancer treatment to improve the efficiency of the cancer care system, plan activities when returning to standard operations after the end of the pandemic, improve the quality of life of patients and significantly reduce mortality from the disease in the Russian Federation
