New environmental policy at WTC Moscow

The Ecology Forum is unique in terms of scale and discussion level public event, the main goal of which is to identify the trends of the new time, changes in the market, necessary changes in the regulatory framework in the field of environmental protection. The main topic of the event is the formation of Russia's environmental development in a period of economic turbulence and external sanctions’ restrictions. The organizer of the forum is the ANO Center for Assistance to Environmental Initiatives «Ecology».

The forum has been opened by Nikolai Valuev, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on Tourism and Tourist Infrastructure Development, Chairman of the Public Council of the ANO Center for Assistance to Environmental Initiatives «Ekology», Head of the Expert Council on Specially Protected Natural Areas under the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation.

As Nikolai Valuev has noted on the eve of the Forum, the event is not just the place to discuss and ask important questions about ecology: «Here we look for and find answers, offer specific solutions. We speak and think all together: government, business, society. Such an open expert dialogue is the right way to develop the country's environmental agenda. In order to achieve the goals of the environmental reforms being implemented in the country, it is necessary to urgently take measures aimed at replacing foreign technologies in the field of ecology and start developing national environmental standards for enterprises. This will ensure the environmental safety of the population and will contribute to the environmental sovereignty of Russia».

More than 1,200 people from 80 Russian regions and foreign countries, as well as business representatives working in the field of environmental services, developers, manufacturers and suppliers of environmental technologies and equipment, companies interested in developing environmentally friendly practices and environmentally friendly production are going to take part in the event. Among them there are «Gazprom Neft» PJSC, «Rosneft» Oil Company PJSC, «Gazprombank» JSC, Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works PJSC, «Bashkir Soda» Company JSC and others.

Together with the experts the participants will discuss a way to constructive international dialogue on climate and environmental issues (also called «green diplomacy»), the implementation of state environmental programs and projects in the new reality, the necessary conditions for the formation of Russia’s environmental sovereignty, import substitution in the field of ecology, attracting people in solving environmental issues, conscious consumption as a sign of the times, as well as new opportunities for Russian enterprises in the current conditions, how to ensure the environmental safety, what is needed to develop national environmental standards, a system for their verification and the formation of Russia's independence in the environmental sphere and many other important topics.

The forum is traditionally supported by the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Public Utilities of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia and other federal bodies, regional authorities and public environmental organizations.

Changes in the international arena naturally affected all spheres of the country's life. Ecology is no exception. No one canceled the achievement of the national environmental goals, which means that enterprises will have to restructure. It is necessary to identify technological gaps, find new suppliers and partners, build supply chains, and provide funding channels.

Olga Ulyanova, program director of the forum, noted: «In modern conditions, it is more important than ever to remember that the health of the nation and the well-being of future generations depend on the state of environment. Now is time to come together, unite and solve difficult problems together. Ecology and climate concern everyone and should remain a zone of cooperation and friendship», 

In total, the business program of the forum includes more than 35 sessions and round tables on topical issues. The discussions will be attended by Dmitry Kobylkin, Chairman of the RF State Duma Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Olga Timofeeva, Chairman of the RF State Duma Committee on the Development of Civil Society, Issues of Public and Religious Associations, Sangadzhi Tarbaev, Chairman of the RF State Duma Committee on Tourism and Tourist Infrastructure Development, Dmitry Khubezov, Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on Health Protection, Oleg Tsepkin, member of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Constitutional Legislation and State Building.

Within the frames of the forum an exhibition of up to date environmental technologies, green economy goods, discoveries and solutions of companies professing an ecological approach to business and lifestyle is held, where partners and participants of the event share their experience and solutions in the field of ecology, as well as demonstrate advanced developments, successful practices and innovations in nature conservation and negative impact on the environment reduction.

Olga Ulyanova, program director of the forum, also shared: «For more than 10 years, we have been collecting, accumulating and implementing environmental initiatives thanks to the work of the Ecology Forum. Now our goal is to form an effective online community for the exchange of information, experience and useful interaction, a platform where each of its participants has the opportunity to influence the agenda not only during the event, but throughout the year».

The outcome of the event will be to identify steps to develop the country's environmental agenda, as well as accept public resolution with proposals, initiatives and recommendations from participants aimed at improving the environmental situation, searching for environmental problems that are significant for society and applying best practices. The document, which will be sent to the federal and regional authorities, regularly becomes the basis for draft laws, regional and federal-level decisions related to the environment.
